"Alvarez (15-2, 0-1 UFC) seemed stuck in neutral. Ismagulov jabbed effectively to the head and body, countered at times and punished the Spaniard with rolling overhand rights, left hooks and occasional uppercuts. Alvarez’s sturdy chin kept him upright, but he offered little in terms of meaningful offense. Perhaps most surprisingly, the submission specialist did not attempt a single takedown."
Y esto en Bloodyelbow:
"Joel Alvarez: Providing your opponent with a human punching bag is never the way one wants to start their UFC career. Alvarez clearly wasn’t used to dealing with an opponent of comparable athleticism, allowing Ismagulov to tee off on him with whatever he wanted, throwing little in return. Hard to find a positive lining for the young Alvarez here."
